Asthenumber of dailyCOVID-19 cases in our region rises, so does the need for convalescent plasma (CCP) in local hospitals. This month has seen the highest CCP usage since the beginning of the pandemic. As patient hospitalizations continue to increase, it is projected that the amount of CCP needed for treatment will outpace the amount of donations of this lifesaving blood product.

Read moreJanuary 6 was a horrifying day. Violent protesters stormed the Capitol, attacking law enforcement and endangering everyone working inside, from senators’ staffers to maintenance workers. Peaceful protest is a hallmark of our country. The right of assembly is a sacred American right. What happened at the Capitol was not a peaceful protest. It was violent, unlawful, and fundamentally un-American.

I am Representative Caleb Finck, I live and farm near Tripp, SD and I will be again writing a weekly column to to date on important legislative items. Our first week of the new session will be filled with information gathering and speeches. On Tuesday, January 12th we will hear the State of the State address from Governor Noem. Wednesday, January 13th, we will listen in on the State of the Judiciary delivered by the Chief Justice. Finally, Thursday, January 14th we will hear the State of the Tribes Address from one of our Tribal Chairmen.
