TYNDALL SHAKES UNDER 3.1 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE

Did you feel it? “I thought someone was shaking my bed,” junior Tiff Pelton said. On January 4, 2021, a 3.1 magnitude earthquake hit the midwest about 3.7 miles from Tyndall, South Dakota. The earthquake happened around 8:55 a.m. on Monday morning. The center of the earthquake was just over three miles into the Earth’s crust. People felt it not only in Tyndall, but also in Avon. Since the state controls what vaccine is sent where, Avon does not know which they will be receiving. Avon will receive their share of the vaccine somewhere between two weeks and two months. Here at Avon School, just the staff will be available to receive a vaccine, but they will have to go to a clinic to get their shot. Most people will go to Tyndall, but Wagner and other surrounding clinics may have them available.

WE ARE MORE ALIKE THAN DIFFERENT

America is grappling a difficult legacy. Our society was built by the blood and sweat of slaves, on land previously occupied by Native Americans. When we won independence, only white male property owners were fully enfranchised. Enslaved peoples were not fully counted under the constitution. Married women had no legal identity.
