I recently got to enjoy one of my favorite days of the year in South Dakota, the annual Buffalo Roundup. I appreciate each and every day that I have the privilege to serve you as governor, but the day of the Buffalo Roundup is truly special. It incorporates South Dakota’s culture, heritage, outdoor spirit, and love for freedom, and it’s a heck of a lot of fun to boot.
Read morePresident Bryan Slaba was present at Rotary on September 30th for our last meeting in the third quarter of our Rotary year. Attendance is still running around 12 members. We are hoping the Coronavirus slows down soon so all our members feel comfortable attending our meetings.
Read moreThe Wagner Athletic Hall of Fame Committee announced its 2nd Class to be inducted in January. Leading this class is Travis Slaba, four-time State Champion in Wrestling. He was a member of the 1992 and 1994 Wagner State Wrestling Championship Teams. Travis was named to the High School National Wrestling All-American Team. Travis also participated in Football and Track and graduated from Wagner Community School in 1995. He participated in the wrestling program at the University of Nebraska.

The seven-day running average for cases has increased 393% from 80 cases per day Aug. 1 to 394 cases per day Sept. 30, while the average the number of hospitalizations has increased 420% from five to 26 hospitalizations per day.

As of print time there were five reported positive cases but it was too early yet to get an exact count . Read moreThe 2020 Census promotion at the library came to an end on September 30th. The drawing for the I-pad that participants in the Census had a chance to win was held October 2nd at 5:00. Winner of the I-pad is Dan Svatos. Congratulations Dan and we appreciate every one who participated in the 2020 Census. 2.8x2 Numbers at the 2020 Census site shows that Lake Andes moved from 9% of people completing the Census on-line to 35.1%. The state average for South Dakota finished at 96.8%. A few states across the U.S. finished higher, but a few states finished lower as well.
