Wagner Rotary Club began its St. Patrick’s Day with a club meeting last Wednesday. President Bryan Slaba rang the bell to bring order to the gathering and asked Pastor Laurie Kidd to offer a prayer. Pastor gave thanks for all the blessings we have been given, asked for grace to help us to love and serve in our community; to be compassionate to all those who have lost loved ones; and to help us keep our hearts open to others suffering.

WAGNER AREA GROWTH ANNOUNCES JUFFER AS NEW ECONOMIC DEVELOPER

Wagner Area Growth is excited to announce that Michele Juffer has accepted the position as the new Economic Developer for the Wagner community. Funeral services were held March 22 at The Lighthouse in Wagner. Burial was in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation was Sunday at Peters Funeral Home in Wagner.

PROGRESS ON THE CHARLES MIX ELECTRIC BUILDING

Work continues on the new Charles Mix Electric building on the south end of Lake Andes. Kevin Feldhaus of Howard is the construction manager on the project. He works for the general contractor, WS Construction of Sioux Falls and drives to Lake Andes every day to be on-site throughout the project and will see it through completion.

EVERETTE EUGENE

Everette died Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at his home in Wagner. Funeral services were Friday, March 19, at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes. Burial was in St. Phillip’s Episcopal Cemetery in Lake Andes, with military honors. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

JAMES WHITAKER

James Richard Whitaker was born on May 10, 1967 in Omaha, Nebraska to Richard and Peggy Whitaker. He grew up in Omaha where he attended Cather Elementary School, Millard North Junior High School and graduated from Creighton Prep High School in 1985. Jim received an Associate Degree from Metro Tech. He was an exceptional athlete who excelled in multiple sports. Jim learned to hunt and fish at an early age and continued to engoy them all during his life.
