Avon held their Annual Awards Program Thursday, May 6th in the Avon Gym. It was opened with a prayer said by Pastor Dennis Webber. The senior choir girls performed "The Defining Moment" and James Tjeerdsma was the Guest Speaker.

Merlin Boese, age 96 of Tyndall passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021 at his home. Funeral service was held May 4 at Friedensberg Bible Church, rural Avon. Burial was at Friedensberg Mennonite Cemetery. Goglin Funeral Home, www.goglinfh. com was honored to serve the family of Merlin Boese.

It was 5:20 A.M. the morning of April 21st, and Ed and Michelle, good friends of Mark and LuAnn, were going to pick me up. They had offered a year ago to take me marlin fishing, and it was finally going to happen. We would go out for the day with their personal friend and master angler, Captain Nicolas Villa. He was ably assisted on his 30’ twin engine boat, the “Mahi Mahi,” by first mates Nicholas, his son, and an equally talented Jose.
