The Native American Community Board held a student contest for a COVID-19 mask design. The contest was held during the month of March. The winner was a Wagner Middle School student, Cadee Nelsen of Lake Andes, congratulations. The theme of the contest was “Do It For Future Generations”. The design is to encourage people to wear the mask in order to help prevent the spread of COVID – 19.
Read moreSeveral Wagner area residents were able to once again get together and enjoyed some good food and especially the chance to once again be able to socialize as they had before the pandemic started. The Dakota Senior Meal Program is once again back to serving the noon meal at the Parkview Villa apartments in Wagner. The “Welcome Back Meal” included baked chicken, mash potatoes and gravy, corn and a desert. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the meal and several commented on how tasty the meal was. Those in attendance commented that it was really nice to get together again with their friends to enjoy a meal. The Dakota Senior Meal Program makes it possible for people to enjoy a nutritious meal and be able to socialize once again, something that many said they really missed during this past year. Although the meals had been delivered to their homes during this time, what was really missing was the time to be with others and visit.

Read moreWagner took a couple of split squads to compete on Thursday, May 6, in Yankton and on Friday, May 7, in Armour. Wagner took 15 athletes to compete in the First Dakota Relays in Yankton. This was a bigger and more competitive meet with Yankton, Huron, Mitchell, Vermillion, Sioux Falls Christian, Madison, Dakota Valley, Elk Point-Jefferson, Deubrook Area, Parker, and Tea all competing.
