Visitation and fellowship time with family will be held at the First Baptist Church in Avon on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. Peters Funeral Home in Avon is in charge of arrangements.

VOCALISTS ATTEND ALL STATE CHOIR FESTIVAL

Local vocalists recently attended the 69th Annual All State Choir and Orchestra Festival. After the football playoff game on October 28, Kley Heumiller, Sarah Swier, Kimberly Tolsma, and I made our way to Rapid City with choir director Autumn Schultz. We got to our hotel around 1:00 A.M. and had to be up, ready and singing by 7:45 A.M. Friday morning! We practiced most of the day with a few 30 minute breaks between sessions.

HEARTBREAKING END TO ALMOST PERFECT PIRATE SEASON

On November 5, 2021, the Avon Pirate Football team took on the Dell Rapids St. Mary Cardinals for the 3rd round playoff game. The Pirates, seeded number one, were hoping this game would be the final stepping stone on the road to the Dome. Unfortunately, time ticked away as the Pirates finished a yard short of the end zone, and the final score was 30 to 32 favoring the Cardinals.
