Tabor to Platte Rail to Trail In the March-April 2024 'South Dakota Magazine' they are promoting the Rail to Trail project. It reads in part 'Tabor to Platte Rail to Trail would follow a wagon path known as the Military Road that was established in the 1860s. Twenty years later, the Milwaukee Road replaced horses with steel rails. Eventually it became known as the Napa-Platte Line.'

A PARTNERSHIP TO HELP STUDENTS ACCOMPLISH THEIR EDUCATIONAL GOALS

Pictured here are Wagner area students and our first non-traditional student who are all receiving a full ride educational scholarship to help them accomplish their career goals. These recipients are part of a special “Scholarship Signing Program” that was held in the Wagner School with their family and friends on hand to witness this great educational opportunity. These students are receiving the Yankton Sioux Tribe and Build Dakota Partnership Scholarship, which is a full ride scholarship.

Rotary News

President Elect Jordan Weber rang the Rotary Bell with a ferocious whack of the bell that brought everyone to attention immediately! He won’t need any lessons on bell ringing in the future. There were no guests present for the April 22nd meeting, so Pastor/Rotarian Bill Heermann gave a blessing with thankfulness for the food and hope for guidance as all Rotarians go about doing good works in the Wagner Community.

Wagner Community Memorial Hospital - Avera Auxiliary held their monthly meeting April 24, with six members present. President Pearl Weber called the meeting to order and members read the Auxiliary Prayer in unison.

VA PLANS TO EXPAND AGENT ORANGE BENEFITS TO COVER EXPOSURE IN A DOZEN NEW STATES

The Department of Veterans Affairs plans to expand eli¬gibility for Agent Orange disability benefits to Vietnam-era veterans who served at 129 locations in the U.S. during spe¬cific time frames, as well as parts of Canada and India, of¬ficials announced. VA officials also said they plan to widen eligibility for veterans who were sickened by herbicides used after World War II in the Demilitarized Zone in Korea in the 1950s and in areas off the shores of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
