WAGNER FOOTBALL RESULTS

Red Raiders spoiled Scotland/ Menno’s homecoming with a 50-0 win on Friday night moving the record to 4-1 on the season. Defensively the Red Raiders were stout. Holding Scotland to 30 rushing yards and 11 passing yards in a great all around team effort.

THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY GREER UNIT #11 IS HONORING JOHN CRISMAN AS THE SEPTEMBER VETERAN OF THE MONTH

Crisman is a Veteran of the Vietnam War. In August of 1974 at the age of 17, after his parents signed off, John joined the Navy and served until August of 1978. Due to his age, he was in reserve status until September of 1974 when he turned 18. He served 6 years in the Navy; four of those were active duty with two years as a reserve drillist, which left him on call by the Navy should he be needed to serve again. John went to boot camp for 12 weeks in San Diego, CA. After boot camp, he attended the Naval Hospital Corps School in San Diego. John trained for four to five months to become a Hospital Corpsman. A hospital corpsman assisted health care professionals who provided care to Navy personnel and their families. As a hospital corpsman, he was loaned out to other military units, with a lot of his time spent with Marine Corp units due to their lack of medical personnel.

NICK DION IS THE NEW OWNER OF BOOMS

On July 1st Nick Dion became the official and sole owner of Booms in Wagner. Nick has always wanted to be a business owner and when Scott and Julie Alderink started talking about wanting to sell Booms, he became interested. Everything fell together at the right time and place for Nick to become the owner of Booms. Dion did not necessarily plan to own a business in the hospitality industry, but he really enjoys working with the staff and community. He has met a lot of great and interesting people during his time at Booms and wanted to continue. He also sees his new position as an opportunity to mentor high school students/young adults and be a role model. Owning Booms has opened a door for him to be able to donate and sponsor youth activities in the local communities.

With the first day of fall come beautiful colors, cooler temperatures, school activities and unfortunately the cold and flu season. The library has Covid 19 tests which have had an extended shelf life to January, 24. We only give out tests to adults, so stop by to pick up. No charge.

PLATTE-GEDDES/ACDC BLACK PANTHERS CHEER AND DANCE AT WAGNER COMPETITION

On September 18th, the Platte-Geddes/Andes Central /Dakota Christian Black Panthers competed at the Competitive Cheer Wagner Invitational. There were three other teams that participated in the invitational the Wagner Red Raiders, the Gregory Lady Gorillas and the Winner Area Warriors. Not only was it a cheer competition but also had several dance category competitions. In the Cheer category first place went to Winner, second place to Gregory, third place to Wagner and finishing in fourth place was Platte-Geddes/Andes Central/Dakota Christian. In the Jazz Dance competition first place went to the Platte-Geddes/ Andes Central Dakota Christian team. For the Hip Hop Dance category Gregory took first place followed by Winner with second. In the final category, Pom Dance Gregory finished first, followed by Platte-Geddes/Andes Central Dakota Christian and Winner coming in third. The Lady Gorillas won the title of Grand Champion in Dance. One aspect that really hurt the Platte-Geddes/Andes Central/Dakota Christian team is the number of injured team members. They currently have five injured. Although they have a significant number of cheerleaders injured, it did not stop the team from competing and showing off their skills and hard work.
