DRIVE SOBER OR GET PULLED OVER

From August 16 through September 2, which includes the Labor Day holiday weekend, the Wagner Police Department will be working alongside the South Dakota Department of Public Safety- Office of Highway Safety, and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over high-visibility enforcement campaign. The goal is to deter impaired driving and prevent the tragedies seen in previous Labor Day weekends from happening again.

Rotary News

August 21st was our annual visit from the District Governor of #5610. This year’s governor was Bruce Nearhood from the Minneapolis area. His wife Kim Nearhood accompanied him, and they were treated to a steak luncheon prepared by our very own Rotarian Scott McAdaragh. President Jordan Weber called the meeting to order and gave a prayer of thanks for the DG visit. The District Governor had presided over a meeting that began at 11:00 a.m. for our Wagner Rotary officers and committee chairpersons. There was one guest present, Steve Donelan who came courtesy of Rotarian Ken Cotton.

RAIDERS START THEIR SEASON STRONG WITH A WIN OVER THE CUBS

The boys of fall have returned to action with a 34-8 win over 11B newcomers, the Chamberlain Cubs. The Raiders were lead by Gannon Knebel. Knebel had 140 rushing yards with five touchdowns. Gannon also contributed ten tackles on defense. Also contributing to the offensive efforts was Javian Pesicka who pitched in 70 rushing yards of his own. The defense combined for six total sacks: Brayden Kreber with three, Hunter Lhotak and Bennet Kuhlman each with one. Parker Petry with one sack, three tackles for loss, and two fumble recoveries on the night as well. The Raiders have now jumped to 5th in media poll rankings for 11B football. This week they travel to Winner for a top 5 matchup against the no.1 ranked Warriors!
