WRIGHT ATTENDS NATIONAL SOFTBALL SHOWCASE

Mara Wright, a Wagner Community School sophomore, attended a Junior Day National Softball Showcase on August 9th -11th in College Park, MD. Mara is the daughter of Calvin Sr. and Mona Wright. Mara began playing softball when she was 10 years old and has enjoyed the game ever since. It is the fiercely competitive environment that drives Mara to want to constantly play softball. She has played on the WCS varsity softball team since the team formed in spring of 2023. The position that she plays on the school’s softball team is pitcher.

CRISMAN PROMOTED TO MAJOR RANK

Jayne M. Crisman, a 2010 Wagner Community School graduate, was promoted to the rank of Major in the United States Air Force on July 31st at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. Jayne began her military career by participating in Air Force ROTC at South Dakota State University and then was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. upon her graduation from college in 2014. She had been stationed in Alaska and Germany prior to her present assignment in Florida. Major Crisman is a member of American Legion Greer Post #11 in Wagner.

RIVERVIEW CEMETERY, A BEAUTIFUL FINAL RESTING PLACE

Surrounded by the most beautiful scenic views, wide open space, and peaceful nature sounds is the Riverview Cemetery in Pickstown. This hidden gem is located at the end of White Swan Street east of the golf course on two and a half acres of land on top of the hill overlooking both Pickstown and the Missouri River. What began as just an idea in 2013 came to fruition in 2016 when the cemetery officially opened, making it one of the newest cemeteries in the area. As it is a relatively new cemetery, there are only nine filled burial plots and two columbarium vaults that have been interred. The cemetery currently offers 720 plots but if ever needed could easily expand to the east of the property.

LADY RED RAIDERS DEFEAT THE PIRATES IN 4 SETS

The Wagner Volleyball team hosted the Avon Lady Pirates on Tuesday, September 17th. The scores of the match were 22-25, 25-23, 25-29 and 25-22.

The Wagner C team traveled to Wessington Springs on Monday, September 16th. The Lady Red Raiders lost 0-2 in a tight match with scores of 23-25 and 24-26.

SENIORS RECOGNIZED AT HOME MEET

The Wagner Cross Country team held their local cross country meet on Monday, September 16, in Pickstown. It was another hot day for the runners and they gave it their all. Again, several of our runners came in and medaled among the top ranking runners. It was also a beautiful day to recognize our Senior Cross Country runners from Wagner.
