WAGNER WINS IN SEASON OPENER

The Red Raiders defeated the Miller Rustlers Friday night with a score of 39 to 28 to open up the season. The Raiders offensive attack was lead by senior running back Jhett Breen who rushed 23 times for 150 yards and 4 touchdowns. Sophomore QB Gannon Knebel also contributed 73 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Knebel was also able to compete 3-5 passes for 56 yards. One being a 15 yard catch and pass to Junior wideout Hunter Lhotak for a touchdown.

VERNON’S REPAIR AND AUTO SERVICE IS NOW K TIRE & OIL, LLC

Lake Andes has had a new business on Main Street for the past few months. On March 20th Vernon’s Repair and Auto Service became K Tire & Oil LLC. K’s Tire and Oil is owned and operated by Jr Kiyukan. He has not yet had a grand opening but plans to once the shop is more where he would like it to be. Kiyukan currently has five employees, all from the local Wagner and Geddes areas.

ANDES CENTRAL NEW SUPERINTENDENT BRAD PETERS

On July 1st, Brad Peters became the new superintendent of the Andes Central School District. He was interviewed and hired in February but did not officially become superintendent until the first of July. Peters grew up in Winner, where he spent his elementary and high school years. He graduated from the Winner School District in 1977. Brad then attended Black Hills State University (BHSU) majoring in history with a physical education minor. He played four years of football and two years of baseball for BHSU. Later in his career, Brad did his graduate work in educational administration at the University of South Dakota.

RAVINIA FIRE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES A CHECK FROM THE 2023 RIDE FOR RESPONDERS

Ravinia Fire Department received a $3,000 check from the Fire & Iron Station 49 out of Mitchell's 'Ride for Responders'. A percentage of the funds raised was available with local fire departments open to apply. Twelve departments applied for the program and Ravinia Fire Department was the lucky winner. The National Motorcycle Club donates to fire victims, food pantries and backpack programs from a percentage of their poker run funds.
