Avon School District will have a new superintendent, Paul Kuhlman, starting July 1st for the 2024-2025 school year. After 32 years of teaching in Avon, Paul has decided to make the transition from teaching to a school administrator.

'Lead Her Forward' continues to be the theme for this year's National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) by acknowledging the power of sports to unlock her limitless potential. The NGWSD is an annual day of observance to acknowledge theaccomplishmentsoffemaleathletes,recognize the influence of sports participation for women and girls, and honor the progress and advocation for equality for women in sports. The certificate is presented to outstanding female athletes who exemplify the qualities of excellence in sports skills, leadership, self-discipline and perseverance. This year, the Avon School District recognized McKenna Kocmich and Courtney Sees as their NGWSD nominees.
Read moreThe Sweet Clover 4-H club met February 4 at 6 p.m. President Maddy Huitema called the meeting to order. Flag Pledges were led by Lucy and Josie Schloss. Roll call topic was 'What’s your favorite animal?' and nine members were present. The secretary's report was given by Colt Wolf. Hailey Brandt motionedtoapprovethereport, seconded by Josie Schloss. The treasurer'sreportwasgivenby Carmindy Ferwerda. Landon Thury motioned to approve the report, seconded by Rilyn. Old business talked about was signing up for shooting sports. There are cooking classes being offered. We also received Thank you letters from Our Home and the VA Hospital. The new business was they are taking bids for people to mow the 4-H grounds in Tyndall. The meeting was motionedbyLandonandseconded by Rilyn. Demonstrations were done by Landon, Rilyn,CarmindyandHailey. Next meeting is March 3, 2024, at 6:00 p.m.

Saddi received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from South Dakota State University. She then furthered her educationbyattendingtheUniversityofTennesee Martin to receive her Master’s of Education in School Counseling.

The Bon Homme County Rabbit & Poultry Club is ready to help if you are new to small animal projects in 4-H. For poultry enthusiasts, Achievement Days classes range from purebred exhibition poultry, layer pens, or meat pens. Time is of the essence here so that your poultry is fully feathered and in its best condition by Achievement Days in August. Our club members help newcomers by getting you in contact with breeders, giving advice on setup and care, and coaching on preparing your birds and yourself. Youth interested in rabbits also should be starting to contact breeders and working on finding a rabbit to show. Rabbits must be purebred and tattooed.
