WAGNER COMMUNITY SCHOOL HOLDS BASKETBALL CAMP

The Wagner Community School high school basketball coaches put on a 3rd through 12th grade basketball camp May 28th through the 31st. Coaches that were involved in the camp included Mike Koupal, Josh Davies, Tera Koupal and Courtney Mack. The camp worked on fundamentals with both the younger and older kids and allowed them to display the things they learned during some full court games. The camp also held contests. It was great for both the kids and the coaches to get into the gym and have some fun while improving their skills.

On Monday, June 10, Wagner’s Post 7319 VFW Teener teams went to Freeman to play a pair of games.

LEGION BASEBALL VS PARKSTON

On Tuesday, June 11, Wagner’s American Legion Post 11 team hosted Parkston’s Post 194. Too many Ks at the plate and errors in the field proved to be Wagner’s undoing as they would fall to the visitors by a 9-5 score.

LEGION BASEBALL PLAYS IN BERRY PEPPER DAY TOURNAMENT

This past weekend, June 15 and 16, Wagner’s American Legion Post 11 baseball team traveled to Creighton, Nebraska to take part in their annual Berry Pepper Tournament.

LEGION BASEBALL TEAM AT BAT

Under head coach, Matt Slaba, and assisted by coach, Samson Metzger, the 2024 Legion baseball team kicked off their season on May 31st against Mount Vernon/ Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney. The team is about halfway through their season and has high hopes to make it to the Legion State Baseball Tournament at the end of July.

TENNERS HEAD TO WINNER 14U TOURNAMENT

Wagner’s VFW Post 7319 teeners traveled to Winner to participate in their annual tournament. Wagner would come up on the short end of a 9-4 score against Gregory in their first game. Dominic Doom, Kingston Brunelle, Brannon Bruguier, Avery Medicine Bear, and Steven Peters all toed the rubber in this one. Combined they would give up seven hits, twelve walks, and one hit batsman.
