Funeral Mass for Perry P. Picotte, 65, was held Friday, June 14, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Marty. Perry died Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Lake Andes Senior Living Center in Lake Andes. Funeral Mass Burial was in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Marty. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Update on Rail to Trail: Tyndall to Platte Two plus months ago, an engineering firm was chosen to do a feasibility study. I called Pierre and was told there has been a delay in starting the study due to an audit concern. There is no definite timeline on when the study will start. The friend’s group has only raised about one third of the $45,000 needed to match the grant from the transportation department (federal gas tax money). This money is only for the study, not for any construction.

FACTS TO AN UNFOUNDED ARTICLE A SPECIAL SESSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL WAS NOT CALLED TO HEAR REPEAL OF ETJ

A special session of the city council was not called to hear a repeal of the ETJ but rather a special session was called to hear nominations for a new council member along with other items of business. On the agenda at the special meeting was Gerrit Juffer asking to repeal the ETJ. This request to be on the agenda was made at a prior council meeting.
