American Legion Greer Post #11 held its monthly meeting on March 16th, 2023 with 30 members in attendance. Commander Clayton Rados thanked the cooks for the delicious meal. We have a guest tonight, Harvey Doerr, who is transferring from Post 164 to our Post. Commander Rados gave him a special welcome. He then called the members to attention. Chaplain Don Kotab gave the invocation which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members. Commander Rados then called the meeting to order.

BOYS BASKETBALL SEASON RECAP

The Red Raider boys finished the 2022-23 season with an 8-13 record. The boys started out strong winning 4 of their first 5 and played well throughout the season against good competition. The boys had 3 players qualify for academic all-state. Chris Nelson, Ted Slaba and Matt Link met the requirements which are to play basketball for 3 years and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Chris Nelson, Matt Link, Carter Cournoyer and Ted Slaba all made the LMVC All-Conference Team. Chris Nelson also made the SESD All Conference Team. Chris Nelson finished his career as the all time free throw percentage leader for a career, Chris was 78% from the free throw line. The team broke the record for three pointers made in a game against Burke the Red Raiders made 13. Preston McFayden tied the record for 3 pointers made with 9 against Burke and he now holds the record for 3 pointers attempted in a game with 23. Chris Nelson made it into the top 5 career in a few categories, he is 5th all time in field goals attempted with 440 and as previously mentioned finished number one in free throw percentage. Chris also finished 5th all-time in career steals with 81. Matt Link is 5th all-time in field goal percentage shooting 55% from the field for his career, he also finished number 5 in two point percentage shooting 55%. Matt also finished 4th all time averaging 2.3 assists per game for his career.
