son Shane Sundance Flood, grandchildren: Beau Ohitika Flood, Lillian Deandre Flood, Kimimila Sundance Flood, Waciwi Jayden Flood, Sincer-Lee Tasiyaganupa Flood, and Billy the Kid William Flood; adopted daughter Sarah Alziebler; adopted son Sean Lane; and Gerri Charbonneau-Dubourt special friend and partner throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Moses and Aberdeen Heart, father William Flood II, mother Marie Heart-Sergeant, brother Benedict Gonzales, sister Carmel Flood, nephews: Richard Flood, Warren Flood, Russell Flood, Hoksila Joseph, Eric Flood, Wihenapa Hart and Karl Flood and all relatives who have gone to the spirt world.
Funeral services for William Flood III (Wabluska) “Bugz”, 81, of Lake Andes are Wednesday, November 13 at 2 p.m. at the Marty Community Center. Burial is in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Marty. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.
Bugz was born east of Marty at home to William Flood II and Marie Heart-Sergeant on August 9, 1943. He died Friday, November 8, 2024 at the Lake Andes Senior Living Center.
He attended and graduated from Marty Indian School. He then continued on to Haskell Junior College in Lawrence, KS and received a degree in carpentry. Next he joined the Army and was stationed in Germany. After his honorable discharge he moved to Yankton and met Carol Picotte and had their daughter LaShannon Marie Picotte. Shortly after he joined AIM took part in the Wounded Knee Stand Off. He also worked at Marty Indian School when he met Renee Samson-Flood together they had Shane Sundance Flood.
He is survived by his daughter LaShannon Marie Picotte,
