Funeral Mass for John Kuhlman was held Thursday, November 14 at St. John Catholic Church in Wagner. Burial was in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Wagner, with military honors. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

John “Jack” Thomas Kuhlman was born May 20, 1942 at Wagner, the son of George and Frances (McGuire) Kuhlman. He died November 11 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.

Jack attended Highland Country School through the 8th grade and graduated from Ravinia High School in 1961. He was drafted into the US Army and was discharged in 1964. He worked various jobs after serving in the Army. He drove truck for Herschel Ells and worked construction building Interstate 90.

On Thanksgiving morning of 1965, Jack was in an accident that left him paralyzed. Jack spent several years rehabbing. He then attended and graduated from Oklahoma State University School of Technical Training in 1971. He worked for Pancake Mach for a few years and then worked on small engines for Norm Nedved at Norm’s Service for over 20 years.

Jack was a very independent man. He lived on his own until entering the Good Samaritan Society several years ago. Jack will be remembered for his love of his nieces and nephews and was very interested in what they were doing.

Thankful for having shared his life are his siblings: Jerry, Tom (Mary Jo), David (Karen) and Dennis (Vicky) Kuhlman, all of Wagner; sister-in-law Mary Kuhlman of Wagner; and many nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law Judy and Marvin Lulf; and brother Pat Kuhlman.
