DONALD A. NOVAK
Memorial services for Donald A. Novak, 92, of Wagner will be held Saturday, June 8 at 10:30 a.m., at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wagner. Inurnment will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Wagner, with military honors. Rosary/ Wake services will be 7 p.m., Friday, June 7, at the church. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.
Donald Adolph Novak was born October 5, 1926 at Dante, the son of Adolph O. and Rose E. (Cihak) Novak. He died Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. Don attained the age of 92 years, 7 months and 24 days.
Don graduated from Wagner High School in 1945. He served in the US Navy from 1948 to 1952, during the Korean War.
Don married Bonnie M. Robbennolt in Wagner at St. John’s Catholic Church on September 17, 1952. Five children were born to their union. Don worked as an electrician for Northwestern Public Service for 37 1/2 years. He retired on November 1, 1988.
Don will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, hunting, refinishing furniture, taking care of the yard, gardening and tending to his flowers.
Don was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the VFW, and the Wagner Fire Department. Don served as the Grand Knight and the District Deputy for the Knights of Columbus and held offices within the VFW. Don was also involved in starting the ambulance service in Wagner.
Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Bonnie of Wagner, five children: Michael E. (Jan) Novak of Colona, IL, Norena Novak of Minneapolis, MN, Patrick (Sharie) Novak of New Ulm, MN, Marilyn (Brian) Early of Livermore, CA, and Melanie Novak of Wagner; four grandchildren: Angela Jensen, Daniel Novak, Ryan Novak and Thomas (Mary) Novak; three great grandchildren: Ella Rose Jensen, Abigail Grace Jensen, and Rhett Patrick Novak; brother Edward N. (Joan) Novak; and many nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters: Arlene (Buck) Siebrand, Betty (Chris) Christensen, Sylvia (Charles) Foster, and James Novak who died in infancy; nieces Terry Ulsh and Janell Novak; and nephew Mitch Robbennolt.
