On Friday, April 23, Wagner ventured north into Titan country to participate in the Chad Greenway Relays in Mt. Vernon. The competition was good as 17 teams showed for this meet, but, once again, the weather was not as area tracksters dealt with the cold and blustery conditions that have been the staples of the forecast for much of this month. Most were good sports, however, and continued to go out and put forth their best efforts.
Read moreWhen I was a kid, my grandparents took me fishing at the Lake Norden spillway, a passage that allows water from Lake Norden to flow underneath Highway 28 and into lakes Mary, John, Albert and points beyond. I don’t recall being excited by the outing. Fishing had never appealed to me. My grandparents, who once took yearly fishing trips into Saskatchewan and caught their share of Northern pike and perch in the waters of Hamlin County, were no doubt trying to pique my interest in their shared pastime.

Chaplain Donald Kotab gave the invocation, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members. Adjutant Rados read the minutes of the March meeting, which were approved as read.
Read moreThe Wagner Rotary Club bell was rung at twelve noon on Wednesday, April 13th. It was a special day for all members as it was Steak Day. Super Foods of Wagner, along with Scott McAdaragh and his mother Gerri McAdaragh prepared the steaks and all the trimmings.
Read moreKimberly Rogers received the National American Legion Auxiliary “Good Deed Award” from her Grandmother Linda Youngbluth. This award is given to a young person who does a good deed. Kimberly received the award for organizing a toy drive in her hometown of Delano, MN for Jesse’s Toy Box—an organization that delivers toys to local hospitals for distribution to children to help them be less scared while they are in the hospital. The sixth grader set our collection boxes in her school and church. In a month, she collected over 250 toys and $1800 in cash donations. With her parents she delivered the toys to her local hospital in Buffalo, MN on behalf of Jesse’s Toy Box. With the cash donations, she will buy iPads for the children to use while they are in the hospital.
