ANDES CENTRAL SENIOR SPOTLIGHT

This week’s featured Andes Central Senior is Nevaeh Morgan. Nevaeh is the daughter of Brian Morgan Sr. and has one sibling, Brian. During her high school years at Andes Central, Nevaeh has been involved in basketball for four years, volleyball for three years and National Honor Society of which she is currently the President. For community service, Nevaeh has volunteered at the Lorain Theatre, which is a community volunteer-run theatre in Armour. Pizza is Nevaeh’s favorite school lunch and Mr. Cliff Johnson. She enjoys him as a teacher because he has such a calming and relaxed demeanor to him.

THUNDER SUFFERS LOSS TO ETHAN AT HOME 45-62

Andes Central/Dakota Christian played a tough Ethan team at home and suffered the loss 45-62 Leading the scoring attack was Peter Backes with 17 points, Ty Archambeau and Hunter Loeffler each had 12, Anaias White Eyes had 9, Garth Maas had 5, AJ Johnson had 4 and Ryder Niewenhuis and Jamian Medicine Horn added 2 each.

FOOD PANTRY ASSISTS 247 HOUSEHOLDS WITH HOLIDAY MEALS

Food insecurity has continued to increase in Bon Homme County as those who volunteer with the Feeding SD food distributions have noticed each month, as well as a continued increase in utilization of the Bon Homme and Scotland Food Pantries. As a means to assist those in need, the Bon Homme Food Pantry board provided 247 individuals and families with the ingredients for a Christmas meal. The meals were packed and distributed to the five towns in the county December 6.

STATE ORAL INTERPRETATION 2023

The Avon Oral Interpretation teamhadaverysuccessful season that ended with seven people qualifying for the state competition at Harrisburg High School, which took place on Friday, December 1st, 2023 and Saturday, December 2nd, 2023. The team qualified the following people in the following events: Readers Theatre: Noah Watchhorn, Ella Hamilton, Abby Gretschmann, Lexi Vanderlei, and Jake Namminga, Humorous:AshleyTolsma, Storytelling: Kate Swier, Duet: AshleyTolsmaandKateSwier, andSerious:NoahWatchhorn. Readers Theatre, Storytelling, andDuetallreceivedasuperior rating for their performances. Avon was also awarded the team excellence award. Thanks to the guidance and direction of coach Sara Hento, the Avon oral interpretation team had a very successful season!
