Read moreMonday, July 5 Avon’s 18U Softball Team traveled to Tabor for the Little Missouri Valley League Tournament. Avon was the #5 seed and drew #4 Tabor in the opening round. Avon had a difficult time against Tabor’s pitching as they failed to reach base in the contest. Tabor was held to 2 runs in the bottom of the first but scored 11 in the second. Kinley Doom pitched for Avon, taking the loss.

Read moreMy daughter recently brought home a monarch caterpillar. We cared for it in a container making sure it had a supply of fresh milkweed leaves and kept its cage clean. It seemed perfectly content to munch on leaves all day. After a few days it hung upside-down from the lid of the cage and we waited for it to form a chrysalis, and eventually convert to a butterfly.
