Cheryl Gae Ells, 77, grasped the hand of God on Friday, May 29, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. She was born March 4, 1943 in Wagner, to the late Herschel and Mable Ells.
Cheryl graduated from Wagner High School in 1960 and then went on to attend Southern State College (The Pointers) in Springfield. While working towards her Bachelor Degree in Teaching, she was crowned Miss Southern State and eventually graduated in 1965.
Cheryl had a passion for teaching and was most fond of teaching elementary grades until she finally retired from Lower Brule Elementary School in 2010. There wasn’t a time when chatting with Cheryl, did she not talk about how important is was for her to make a difference in every child that crossed her path.
When Cheryl wasn’t teaching, she was exhibiting her greatest quality which was pouring her love and support into her own family, always being there when she was most needed!
While filling her soul with the thoughts of her children, grand and great grandkids, Cheryl enjoyed raising poodles, filling her and her mother’s home with African Violets, cooking goodies; listening to Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Conway Twitty and most importantly Elvis Presley to whom she amassed a lifetime of figurines and keep-sakes. She would never forgive us; however, if we did not share her recent liking to Keith Urban...sorry Elvis!
Most of all, she celebrates her time spent with her children: Tami Graziano of Minneapolis, MN, Wade J Pudwill of Raleigh, NC, Tarra Pudwill of Beresford; nine grandchildren: Jordan Geveshausen, Sioux Falls, Kera Washington, West Palm, FL, Briana Geveshausen, Gainesville, FL, Braden Sommervold, Marshall, MN, Lauren Pudwill, Raleigh, NC, Kade Pudwill, Raleigh, NC, Brooke Tavajian, Chicago, IL, Garrett Schempp, Sioux Falls, Kaylie Schempp, Menno; and four great grandchildren.
