JIMMY ANDERSON
Jimmy Anderson, son of Nels and Christine (Thompson) Anderson, was born June 27, 1945 in Wagner. He attended school in Ravinia.
Jimmy enlisted in the US Army and served as an MP in the Vietnam War. On June 2, 1974, Jimmy was united in marriage with Jeanne Bucholz in Huron. They briefly lived in Glendale, CO before moving to Winner where their first son, Jason, was born in 1976. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Huron where they welcomed their second son, Cameron, in 1978. Jimmy worked most of his life as a self-employed drywaller/taper/ texture. In 1997, Jim and Jean moved to Mitchell for Jean’s job with the SD Department of Labor. Jimmy continued to work independently as a taper/ texture, but eventually started working alongside his brothers Jack and Niel before retiring in 2011.
Jimmy joined the SD Patriot Guard in 2007 and was made a ride captain in 2008. He was an active member, participating in many missions to honor and respect our nation’s veterans. Jimmy enjoyed riding his motorcycle and driving his “Yellow Machine” every chance he got. He loved kids and making them smile. If there was a baby around, you can be sure he was going to hold it. Jimmy’s interest in photography grew after retirement. He combined his love of photography and driving by searching out and photography windmills, barns and sunsets around the area. Jimmy had a great sense of humor and a wonderful smile that will be missed. His affection for sweets was infamous, with an assortment for jellybeans, candy and ice cream always to be found in the house.
