Robert “Bob” Carl Roberts was born June 9, 1930 in Mattoon, Illinois, to Ferna Viola (Williams) Roberts and Carl Maston Roberts. Bob entered into the presence of the Lord on Monday, October 21. Bob attained the age of 94. He knew Jesus Christ as his Savior, having repented of his sins at an early age. He did his best, with the abilities God gave him, to reveal Christ to the world.

He lived in Mattoon until going away to Bible college in St. Paul, Minnesota, graduating in 1956. Bob married Margaret Rock in 1957 in Burlington, Iowa. He was ordained in 1958 in the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination at the District Conference in Sioux City, Iowa. Together with his wife, they served churches in West Burlington, Iowa; Bloomfield, Montana; Viola Lake, Wisconsin; and Wagner. After retiring from his pastoral position, he continued to do ministry as a fill-in pastor in Nebraska and South Dakota. He continued to be active in Sunday afternoon services in both Wagner and Armour nursing homes. It was while living in Wagner that he finished his bachelor’s degree in education from the University of South Dakota. He taught in Bonesteel and Wagner school systems for 19 years.

Bob loved spending time with his family, traveling, fishing, hunting, camping, and helping people. He loved the challenge of fixing things and could fix almost anything. He continued to help wherever he could as long as he was able.

Thankful for having shared his life are: his wife of 67 years, Margaret of Wagner; his children: Becky Roberts of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Mark ( Linda) Roberts of Wagner; Debbie (Keith) Swensen of Elbert, Colorado; and David Roberts of Racine, Wisconsin. He is also remembered by his ten grandchildren: Brien Roberts, Kayla (Ryan) Thaler, Christina Brandsma, David (Erin) Swensen, Abigail Roberts, Joel Roberts, Mackenzie (Joe) Wright, Riley Roberts, Caleb Roberts, and Hallie Roberts, along with ten great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his three sisters, and their husbands.
