ARMANTHA MCBRIDE

Armantha, 64, of Wagner, died Thursday, July 4, 2024 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services were Wednesday, July 10 at the YST South Gym. Burial was in the Greenwood Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Armantha was born October 2, 1959 in Wagner, to Cleo Zephier and John Huapapi.

Armantha attended elementary school in Rivina then attended Wagner Community School until the 9th grade. Several years later she received her GED and then attended Mitchell Vo-Tech, graduating in 1984.

While raising her four children, Armantha worked to provide a stable home for them. She worked at the Wagner IHS, Yankton Sioux Housing Authority, Yankton Sioux Tribe, and the Fort Randall Casino.

Wherever Armantha went, she was able to make new friends that lasted a lifetime. She loved to play bingo, slot machines, Yahtzee, and rummy. During her down time, she could be caught watching her favorite show NCIS.

Armantha leaves to mourn three children: Louis, Robert and Leatrice Zephier; grandchildren: Zaylee, Isabelle, Lucian, Evaline, Zen, Raymond, Alaya, Jeslynn and Tayden; sisters: Collette Zephier, Justine Wood, Michelle Huapapi and Susan Huapapi; brothers: Cameron Wood, Deron Wood, Curtis Huapapi and Troy Huapapi; uncles Jerry Zephier and Althebert “Bootie” Zephier and a host of many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her mother Cleo Zephier Wood; father John Huapapi; daughter Jennifer McBride; granddaughter Lillith “Lilly” Honomichl; sisters: Roma Zephier, Andrea Huapapi and Sharon Huapapi.
