Funeral services for Dean Picotte, 65, of Lawrence, were held Tuesday, June 18, at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Wagner. Burial was in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery in Greenwood at a later date. Peters Funeral Home of Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Dean aka “The King” Picotte passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, KS. Dean was born to Julia Felicia and Joseph Picotte Sr. October 20, 1958 in Wagner. He was the sixth out of eleven siblings.

Dean had enlisted into the Marines and did his basic training at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, CA. He was stationed in Hawaii. Dean returned in 1978 where he had numerous jobs from being a head start driver in Macy, NE to a furniture mover in Omaha, NE and Rapid City.

He was a Kansas City Chiefs football fan. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing pool with his son and playing cards with his siblings. His grandchildren were the light of his life, he will be missed greatly.

Survived by his mother Julia Felicia-Picotte; siblings: Patricia (Robert) Goulette, Marilyn Picotte, Eugene Picotte, Carol (Warren) Picotte, Jeanie (Brent) Picotte-Cook, Ronald Picotte, Roberta (Herman) Picotte-Ulrich, and Michele Picotte; children: Robyn, DeAnna, Cody and Lucas; and his 14 grandchildren.

Preceded in death by great grandmother Agnes Weddell; uncle Henry “Hank” Felicia; brother Joseph Picotte Jr.; father Joseph Picotte Sr.; grandson Devin Goulette; granddaughter Jenna Mattis; great-grandson Leonidas Mattis; niece Emma Picotte; and nephew Richie Picotte.
