Funeral services for Frank Huapapi, 74, of Wagner were held Tuesday, June 4 at the YST South Gym in Wagner. Burial was in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery in Greenwood.

Frank Dennis Huapapi was born June 5, 1949 to Dennis and Irene Louise Huapapi on the Ihanktonwan Oyate. Frank was one of four children, brother of John, Sharon, and Dorothy. Frank grew up in Greenwood.

Frank moved to Minnesota and met Marilyn Big Bear in the late 1960s. Joining this beautiful union are Frank and Marilyn’s Dwayne, Donald, Frank, Daniel, Darlene and Devin. Frank went on to receive his GED certificate and completed the schooling to become a certified welder. He worked contracted work with construction. The grandchildren raised by Frank and Marilyn are James, Larencia, Dayna, Danielle and Daniel. Frank shared 55 blessed years with Marilyn.

Frank enjoyed raising his grandchildren and also loved watching wrestling, traveling to his favorite place the Mystic Lake Casino, and making the trip to the Ihanktonwan homelands.

Frank passed May 25, 2024, at the age of 74 years young at his home in Minneapolis, MN. Frank is survived by his wife Marilyn; children: Dwayne, Richie Johnson, Donald, Frank, Daniel, Darlene and Devin; grandchildren: James, Larencia, Dayna, Danielle and Daniel; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Frank joins in death with his parents Dennis and Irene Louise; siblings John, Sharon and Dorothy; and many relatives.
