Shirley M. Hruska, 88, died at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls on Monday, January 28, 2019. Funeral service was Saturday, February 2 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Lake Andes with burial following in St. Mark's Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Lake Andes.

Shirley Mae Hruska was born on November 25, 1930 to John and Lois (Baker) Schroeder in Armour. She attended school in Armour. On September 15, 1949 she married Robert Gene Hruska. Shirley enjoyed doing word finds, making dolls and doll clothes, embroidering and quilt making. Everyone who knows Shirley, knows she loved cruising the countryside looking for deer and greeting anyone she encountered along the way, whether she knew them or not. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister, Catholic Daughters, VFW Auxiliary Post #3239 and American Legion.

She is survived by five children: Anna Mae Stahlecker of Lake Andes, Lou Anne Sterk of Freeman, Sharon Kay (Curt) Stucky-Engbrecht of Marion, Teena Marie Dernier of Pueblo, CO, and Thomas Robert (Angela) Hruska of Sioux Falls; brother, Donald Schroeder of Bossier City, LA, 16 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Timothy Gene Hruska, two brothers, Harrold Schroeder and Fred Schroeder, sister Judy Keller, and three grandchildren.
