HOKSILA JOSEPH
Hoksila Wa'Ste Joseph, 33, of Marty, died Sunday, October 9, 2022 at his home in Marty. Funeral services were Thursday, October 13 at the Marty Community Center in Marty. Burial was in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Marty. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements. Hoksila Waste Joseph was born on February 5, 1989 in Yankton to Orlando G. Joseph Sr. and Julia A. (Gonzalez) Joseph. Waste lived on the Yankton Sioux Reservation where he attended Marty Indian School through the 12th grade. He later went on to Job Corp where he received his GED. Waste worked for L.A. Gus Stop and at S&K.
On September 18, 2017 he met his common law wife Amelia Cavender. They lived in Marty where they raised their two children, George Aloyisus Joseph (4) and Sherry Ann Joseph (2).
Waste loved spending time with family and friends. He always had a smile on his face and always loved cracking jokes. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Waste loved being around his babies and wife.
Hoksila Waste is preceded in death by his grandparents, his father Orlando Joseph Sr., Hoksila Waste Joseph II and his daughter Cleo Ann Joseph.
He is survived by his wife Amelia C., his son George, his daughter Sherry, his mother Julia Gonzalez, brothers: Orlando G Joseph Jr., Tawa Paha Nupa Joseph, Wambli Hoksila Joseph, Davion Rouse; sisters: Rhea N. Joseph, Michelle J., Wakinyan Winyan Si Eca Selwyn, Gerry Rouse, Samantha Rouse; nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
