ELIZABETH ROLSTON
Funeral services for Elizabeth “Liz” Rolston, 75, of Wagner were held Saturday, August 21 at St Paul’s Catholic Church in Marty. Burial was in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.
Elizabeth Ann (Weddell) Rolston was born in Wagner on July 4, 1946 to Henry and Edna (Gullikson) Weddell. She died Wednesday August 18, 2021 at the Wagner Good Samaritan Center after battling lung cancer for one year and nine months. Liz attained the age of 75 years, one month and 14 days.
She grew up in the Wagner, Ravinia and Lake Andes area and graduated from Andes High School in 1964. In 1969, she married James “Jim” Rolston in Lake Andes. They later moved to Arvada, Colorado where they resided for ten years. Liz worked at The Pop Shoppe and Lab Corp, she was a homemaker, a Girl Scout leader and a soccer mom. Eventually, Liz, Jim and their daughters moved back to Wagner so they could be closer to family.
For many years Liz worked for Wagner Food Center where she enjoyed visiting with customers and creating meaningful friendships with coworkers. She will be remembered for her love of the Denver Broncos, family meals, her fun sense of humor and attending her grandchildren’s activities.
Liz was a member of the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Wagner. Her family was the center of her world. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Thankful for having shared her life are her daughters: Tammy (Tim) Stone of Wagner, Julie (Shawn) Williams of Pella, IA, Sara Rolston of Wagner, and Kim (Dan) Davenport of Wagner; 11 grandchildren: Brittany (Ryan) Beeson, Mackenzie Stone, Jordan Stone, Taya Stone, Whitney (Jake) Munkwitz, Colton Williams, Davian Zephier, Amelia Rolston, Stephanie Hoeke (Cody Meyers), Courtney Smith, Kami Rothlisberger (Jon Batcheller); 13 great-grandchildren: Carter, Rivers, Emma Jo, Elizabeth James, Pocahontas, Andre, Sophia, Rowdy, Riggen, Natylie, Braedyn, Teegan, and Tenlee; brother-in-law Thomas (Sandy) Massie, Jr., of San Antonio, TX; brother-in-law Dennis (Mata) Rolston of Davis, CA; and many nieces, nephews, and relatives.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband James Rolston; parents, Henry and Edna Weddell; sister, Marge Massie; infant sisters, Faithful Delores and Irene Rose; father-in-law, Cleon “Tony” Rolston; mother-in-law, Mary Rolston; sister-in-law, Carol Bonnet; brother-in-law, Richard Rolston; maternal grandparents, Mabel and Alexander Gullikson; and paternal grandparents, Eva and James Weddell.
