Funeral Mass for Robert J. Dvorak, Sr., 88, of Wagner, will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wagner. Burial is in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Wagner, with military honors. Visitation is Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home in Wagner. Scripture/Wake services are 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Robert Joseph Dvorak, Sr. was born April 19, 1933 at Wagner, the son of William and Grace (Harris) Dvorak. He died Friday, November 19, 2021 at his home in Wagner.

Bob attended school at Highland #4 through the 8th grade. He didn’t further his education because he was needed to help on the farm. He farmed until he was drafted into the US Army on September 21, 1953. He served in the Korean War and was discharged on September 21, 1955.

Bob married Delores Gau at Marty on October 11, 1956. He continued to farm with his dad until the late 1960’s. He began working at Kocer Implement in the early 60’s. Bob began working at the Wagner Community School in 1970 and retired from the school in 1998.

Bob was a member of the American Legion, Charles Mix Historical Society and former member of the cemetery board.

Bob will be remembered for his love of fishing and hunting, especially with his friend Verne Twitero and his love of woodworking. He made over 1300 crosses for locals and for people all over the world. Missionaries gave them to people all over.

Thankful for having shared his life are his children: Robert J. Dvorak Jr. and wife Kay of Rapid City and Eva Grace Sears of Wagner; seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother Richard (Darlene) Dvorak of Pickstown; sister Evelyn (Don) Hawley of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters-in-law: Rita Kocer of Wagner and Marlene Gau of Le Sueur, MN and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Rae Dvorak; son, Andrew Paul Dvorak and his parents.
