Robert "Bob" James Bruner, 94, died at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell on Saturday, August 15, 2020. Funeral service will be Friday, August 28 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Geddes with burial following in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 27 from 5-7 p.m., at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Geddes with Rosary and wake service following the visitation at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home.

Robert James Bruner was born in Geddes December 20, 1925 to John and Mildred (Hruska) Bruner.

He graduated from Geddes High School in 1943 and served in the US Navy during WWII from Feb. 1945 to July 1946 in the South Pacific. In October of 1947 he married Lorraine Pesicka in Geddes.

They farmed the family (Hruska-Bruner) homestead which has been in the family for 120 years. He also worked full time at the Soil Conservation District in Lake Andes from 1966-1985 and was fortunate to celebrate his 60th wedding anniversary with Lorraine before her death in 2008.

For over 55 years he was involved in the Geddes American Legion and the VFW where he served as Commander from2003-2015. He always enjoyed a good game of cards and attending Senior Citizens.

He’s survived by one son, Randy (Vicki) Bruner of Harrisburg; two daughters, Sandy (Mark) Gant of Geddes and Connie Stephens Tacoma, WA; five grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, remaining brother, Ed (Betty) Bruner, sister-in-laws Ruth Creasey and Joan LeDoux.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a great grandson, brothers Tom and Richard Bruner, and a host of in-laws.
