RANDALL EHRISMANN

Funeral services for Randall Ehrismann, 69, of Wagner were Thursday, September 5 at the Wagner Community Church in Wagner. Interment will take place at a later date. Visitation was Wednesday at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner.

Randall Dean Ehrismann, age 69, was born in Wagner on March 15, 1950 to Royal and Javon (Smith) Ehrismann. He passed away on September 1, 2019 at the Avera St. Benedict Hospital, Parkston after a brief, but very hard fought battle with heart disease.

Randy was born and raised on a farm south of Marty. He attended Wahehe #81, a rural country school through 8th grade. He graduated from Marty High School in 1968. While in high school he participated in football. Through one of his classes in high school he began learning the trade of printing and was employed part-time at the Marty School print shop. He attended college at SDSU in Brookings, where he studied printing for two and a half years. After college he began employment with the newspaper in Winner. After a few years in Winner he moved to Sioux Falls and began his career as a printer with Modern Press, which later became CCL Industries. He was employed with them for 41 years until his retirement in 2015. Randy cherished the friendships he made in his years at CCL. During his time in Sioux Falls, he was also active in the Jaycees and as a volunteer at My Fishing Pond, Bridgewater. Randy was a proud supporter of USA Shooting and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Randy became a father in 1982 upon the birth of his oldest son, Josh, followed by the birth of second son, Jeff, in 1985. He was excited to become a grandpa, and was blessed with that title when his first grandchild, John Royal, was born last year. Randy was eagerly awaiting the birth of two more grandchildren in the coming months.

Upon his retirement, Randy moved back to his hometown of Wagner. In his retirement, he was able to fulfill his dream of buying a boat and being on the river fishing. He also enjoyed days spent hunting pheasants and deer and especially days in the goose pit. He was happy to return to his early days of farm life, helping his family with grain harvest each fall. He became an expert at driving the grain cart. Moving back to his hometown, he was also able to spend more time with his family, and he enjoyed babysitting for and being involved in the activities of his great-nieces and nephew who were blessed with “a bonus Grandpa.” Randy was an avid Nascar fan and cheered on his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. One of his favorite memories is attending a Nascar race in Kansas City with his sons.

He is survived by his two sons Joshua (Claire) Ehrismann and grandson John Royal of Kennedale, TX and Jeffrey (Nicolle) Ehrismann of Bennington, NE; mother Javon Ehrismann of Armour; sister Karen (Don) Wiechmann of Wagner; sister-in-law Joan Ehrismann of Colstrip, MT; niece Donnelle (Nick) Hoffman and children, Nicolette, Alexis and Cade of Armour; nephew Aaron (Gretchen) Wiechmann and children Anna and Faith of Harrisburg; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Royal Ehrismann, brother, Mark Ehrismann as well as his grandparents Mike and Verna Smith and Herman and Pearl Ehrismann.
