Funeral services for Lorraine Jean DeJong, 93, of Springfield, were held Friday, March 28 at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Springfield with burial in the Emmanuel Reformed Cemetery. Peters Funeral Chapel in Springfield was in charge of arrangements. Lorraine Jean DeJong was born December 5, 1931 in Petersburg, the daughter of Jacob and Dora (Logterman) DeBoer. She died March 25, 2025 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Tyndall. She attended rural Dahlenburg School thru 8th grade. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1949. Lorraine joined the UCC Church and after she was married, she joined the Emmanuel Reformed Church. She was an auxiliary member for many years. Lorraine married George DeJong on September 9, 1949. Together they farmed and raised four children. She milked cows for years and had various jobs. Lorraine moved to Springfield in 2000. In October of 2023, she moved to Springfield Assisted Living in Springfield. In August of 2024, she moved to Good Samaritan in Tyndall. She enjoyed Pinocle and dominoes with her friends. She loved spending time with family and friends. Lorraine is survived by her children: Gloria (Verald) Odens of Springfield, Gary (Susan) DeJong of Avon, Larry (Karla) DeJong of Avon, and Leon (Julie) DeJong of Avon; 15 grandchildren: Becky Jones, Vickie (Chuck) Richmond, Jackie (Tom) Pier, Lori (Steve) Radak, Autumn Odens, Kelly (Rick) Wiesler, Chad (Summer) DeJong, Ryan (Brittany) DeJong, Benjamin Dorman, Michael (Kathryn) Dorman, Russell (Tammy) Dorman, Bryant (Jen) DeJong, Sami (Travis) DeJong, Levi (Ashton) DeJong, Kory (Anna) DeJong; 28 great grandchildren; and one greatgreat grandchild; sister Darlene Britton of Menomonie, WI; and brother Dennis (Janet) DeBoer of Tabor. She was preceded in death by husband George; parents Jacob and Dora DeBoer; grandson Joshua Odens; and grandsonin-law Bradley Jones
