Memorial Services for Lloyd John Buchholz, 69, of Wagner were held Friday, March 22 at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner. Burial was in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner with military honors.

Lloyd John Buchholz was born January 21, 1950 in Wagner, the son of Johnny and Joyce (Thaler) Buchholz. He died Monday, March 18, 2019 at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

John served in the US Marine Corps from May of 1968 until 1974. He served as a scout sniper in Vietnam and received numerous medals and awards for his service. John was a self employed over the road truck driver.

John enjoyed pheasant hunting with his brothers and watching football, especially the Raiders.

Thankful for having shared his life are his daughter Chessa (Wade) of AZ; two grandchildren, Catherine and Carolyn; mother Joyce O’Neal of South Dakota; two brothers, Terry (Arlene) Buchholz of Washington and Craig (Cheryl) O’Neal of Indiana; and two sisters, Paula (Pat) Doyle of Nebraska and Peg (Jim) Hauge of South Dakota.

John was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Buchholz, brother Steve O’Neal, grandparents: Steve and Pauline Thaler and John and Tillie Buchholz, and numerous aunts and uncles.
