She was taken to heaven on December 8, 2024 at the age of 93. Doris graduated from Springfield High School in 1949. Following high school, she worked as a bookkeeper at the creamery in Yankton. She married Vert Voigt on September 7, 1956 at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Springfield. They were married 65 years when Vert passed away in 2022. Four children were born to their union. She worked in the office at Avon Livestock Auction for over 20 years and was known for making the best potato salad for the Lions Fun Fest. She was a wonderful helpmate to Vert on the farm. She had no blood sisters but felt especially close to her sisters-in-law. She liked to embroider and made pillowcases and quilts for her grandchildren. She enjoyed family gatherings and felt a special joy when her grandchildren came to visit. She taught her children to work hard and to pray continually. She was a gentle spirit with deep faith and lived out her faith in a quiet manner.
