CLAUDETTE HOLIDAY

Claudette Holiday, 65, of Marty died Sunday, July 28, 2019 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Funeral services were Friday, August 1 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Marty. Burial was in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery. Wake services were at the Ihanktonwan Oyate Community Center in Marty. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Claudette Lee Holiday loved her family very much and she treated her friends like they were family. Her home was always full of family, she loved to be around everyone. She had no problem saying what was on her mind or renaming you or stating her dislikes of anything. She enjoyed being with family and friends, playing cards, dominoes, reading, strawberry short cake, banana cream pie and chicken nuggets. She always remembered birthdays, loved the color blue and her coffee and cigarettes.

She received her BS in Human Services and AA in Arts and Science from Dakota Wesleyan University. After college she was employed at Mitchell Adjustment Training Center. Later returning to the Yankton Sioux people she was employed at various places. She worked at Marty Indian School for several years as a guidance counselor among other jobs. Claudette was a member of Kateri Circle and also worked at the Canku Teca Treatment Center in Lake Andes.

Claudette had three children, two daughters and one son: Victoria L. Holiday, Shylah (Wade) Nelson of Brookings, Viriah Medicine Horn of Brookings; Louis Medicine Horn III of Brookings; Syrianna (Trevor) Maughan of Logan, UT; Elijah Holiday of Brookings; Cheryl Holiday, Vleari LeRoy, Saddi Shri Holiday, Joseph Holiday, Terra R. Holiday of Lake Andes, Shanbrah (Larrin Sr.) Holiday; Elita Holiday of Brookings; Halie and Brandt, Solomon T. Holiday (deceased), Elias Archambeau of Sioux Falls; Trajon D. Holiday of Brookings; Trevor D. Holiday of Brookings; Tressa Holiday (deceased); Constance, Promise and Janaya all of Marty.

Claudette is survived by her two daughters;her brother Richard, her sisters: Cheryl (Art), Gail and Georgia (Mark); many nieces and nephews; grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Claudette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Irving “Bushie” Williams; her son Solomon; her brothers Phillip and Glen; her sisters Barbara Jean and Jacqueline Ann.
