Wagner faced Chamberlain in their first game and it was a quick one as Wagner went down by a score of 3-0. Wagner collected only one hit in the game and that was by Hunter Loeffler. This was in the fifth inning when Wagner mounted its only real threat of the game as Joey Cournoyer walked and Daniel Soukup was plunked by a pitch to reach base along with Loeffler. For a moment it looked like we would plate a run or two as Carlin Hopkins hit a sharp grounder up the middle, but the shortstop made a nice play to force the runner at second. The only other player to reach for Wagner was Corbin Carda on a walk.

Unfortunately, that’s all the home team would need as they would hold Wagner to just one run, winning by the score of 2-1.
Read moreWagner’s teeners hosted Corsica for two games on Friday, June 4. The 14Us took the field first. Malakai Segura was the starting pitcher for Wagner and was a bit shaky his first time on the big mound. He walked the first four batters he faced. He was then relieved by Joey Cournoyer who pitched capably to get us out of the first inning only down three runs. But some additional walks and shaky defense ultimately led to nine Corsica runs as they defeated Wagner by a score of 9-2 in four innings (the four innings played were due to our 7:00) limit. Frank Soukup also pitched one gave up zero runs on one hit in his one inning of work.
