InterimSuperintendent,Brian Field’s, time with the Avon School District will come to an end this Thursday, June 27th. Field first took the interim superintendent position for Avon on January 2nd of this year. He was happy to take the shortterm position in Avon because he has always enjoyed the small and mid-sized school culture. Fieldenjoysaschoolsettingthat allowsforthegettingtoknowof the students, staff, parents and community well. This is especially important to Field as he believes that education is about buildingandsustainingpositive and productive relationships with all stakeholders. In the short time that Field has been in Avon, he can see that there is a great amount of pride for the school district and outstanding support from the community. Being an Avon Pirate is something very special as is evident to Field by so many of the staff members coming back home to Avon to work and raise their families.

This past week, Bon Homme Countywashithardwithconstant rain to the amount of anywhere between 2 and 8 inches of throughout thecounty.Thiscausedseveral areas to flood and have running water over roads. One of the several areas that was closed due to flooding was Highway 37 at the Emanuel Creek Bridge. The Bon Homme County Emergency Management Manager, Eric Elsberry, reports the county currently has 300 sites they are evaluating for flood damage. JaCee Dvorak was awarded a Dakota Builds Scholarship June 4th. JaCee is the daughter of Boyd and Jenni Dvorak and the granddaughter of Richard and Darlene Dvorak and John and Margret Johnson.

Daniel Soukup was awarded a Dakota Build scholarship this past May. He will be attending Mitchell Technical College going into the electrician program. Daniel is the son of Gene and Laura Soukup and the grandson of Eugene Soukup.
