The East River Horizons Team and their friends are preparing for a culture and music event to be held at Wagner Lake in Wagner, South Dakota on June 13. The event is being referred to as “605 Unity JAM” and is intended to help bring people together to increase culture awareness, understanding, acceptance and appreciation for all cultures in the area.

The 120 blue pinwheels surrounding the lake represented the 120 cases reported in Charles Mix County in the last seven months. Jayden appreciates his partners, Strenghtening Our Communities (SOC), and the YST Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) agency for their support.
Read moreDaktronics and the South Dakota Association of Secondary Principals recently announced their Academic All-State Teams. Wagner Community School’s Cierra Nelson was named to the 3rd Team. Students are placed on teams with a formula to include GPA and ACT Score along with a short essay. The top five scoring seniors that will be attending an in-state university will be given a $1000 scholarship. Cierra Nelson received a huge medallion for being named to the team.
Read moreBATH, SD (April 14, 2021) - The SD FFA Foundation named the annual “FFA Family of the Year” award, honoring a family's longterm involvement in the SD FFA/ Agriculture Education program. Because the 2020 SD FFA Convention was virtual, the award was presented and the family recognized at the 2021 SD FFA Convention, on April 12th, in Rapid City. The 2020 recipient of this award is the Tonak family, including Lori, Dan and Nicole, along with their children, spouses and grandchildren: Samantha Tonak and fiance Michael Pettit; Ashley (Tonak) and Jordan Wiesen, and son Holten; Logan; Jennifer; and Reed and daughter Camryn.

Students from across the state participated in workshops, STAR Events, Social Activities, and General Sessions. FCCLA stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. This organization focuses on preparing youth to become community leaders and giving them the skills needed for life after high school.
