Local Lake Andes man, Harold Miller turned 93 years old this past Saturday September 9th. There was a birthday party held in his honor on September 9th at the Inside Scoop. This year also happens to be the 25-year anniversary since Harold coached a Midgets team to a second-place finish in the Little Missouri Valley League. The birthday party was open to the community and the past players from the Midgets baseball team and their families were all invited. There were about 55 party goers in attendance for Harold’s big day. Jason Laska was the only member of the Midget’s team to come out to celebrate.

The Lake Andes Senior Living facility is changing an aspect of how they care for their residents and that is through their daily activities and adventures. Since March of 2023, the Lake Andes Senior Living facility has had a new Activities Director, Debbie White. In her short 5 months there, Debbie has brought about new and creative activities to be enjoyed and experienced by the residents.
Read moreThe Lake Andes Lakers held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, September 6. The Lakers are a community club that anyone living in or around Lake Andes can join. There are yearly membership dues which go to pay for a steak supper around February and every month at the meeting they have a jackpot drawing that members must be present for to win. They meet on the first Wednesday of every month at the Duck in at noon for an hour to have a meal together and listen to a local speaker that has something new or upcoming in the Lake Andes community. They have had speakers from new businesses, new teachers, new coaches, community events, school events, birthdays, anniversaries, city events/projects etc.
Read moreThe South-Central chapter of the South Dakota A.B.A.T.E had their monthly meeting on September 10 at 1 p.m. at the Duck In in Lake Andes. A.B.A.T.E. stands for A Brotherhood for Awareness, Training and Education involving motorcycle rights on South Dakota roads. The organization’s mission includes promoting political involvement of motorcyclists, presenting and promoting a better public image of motorcyclists, helping to prevent accidents through rider and motorist awareness and education, helping improve road conditions making it safer for motorcyclists, etc.

He will also be coaching 7th and 8th grade boys’ basketball this winter. Brevan graduated from college last spring. He enjoys watching sports, particularly the Dallas Cowboys, Michigan Wolverines and the Los Angeles Lakers in his free time. His other hobbies include hunting and fishing.
